It’s not often that you meet someone who is effortlessly cool, successful and at the same time down to earth and relatable, but Maxine Tromp is all of those things. Another rarity – for me anyway – is walking into a clothing store and wanting absolutely everything. But the MOON by Maxine Tromp shop will do that to you guys and girls.
Edgy, alternative, street-wear inspired clothing and accessories hang from sleek rails, daring you to slip into something new…something that mirrors the individuality we’re all searching for in our fashion choices.
Rising MOON
Maxine has an innate passion for style and trends but only realised that fashion was her true love in her 3rd year studying branding at Vega School of Branding. The style expert subconsciously began channelling her projects towards fashion and trends when Vega challenged students with a self-discovery journey. She then landed a fashion internship at ELLE Magazine, where it all began.
MOON was created in 2013 when Maxine and her mama bear Nichola Tromp paired up to design and source clothes from abroad to house under their own label. These trendy treats can now be found in the chic MOON store in Benoni, with plans of an expansion into the northern suburbs of Jozi on the horizon.
Staying true to her roots, Maxine has ensured that select MOON items have been locally manufactured and has a five year goal for all MOON items to be locally manufactured and produced.
As for the name, “moon” was the nickname Nichola gave Maxine when she was a little girl and as Maxine embraced fashion it became woven into her personal brand. MOON feeds the desires of young local fashion lovers by watching how they are influenced by fashion and social media and adjusting its seasonal offerings to be irresistibly on trend yet undoubtedly unique.

When it comes to her personal style Maxine says, “I am very choppy-and-changey when it comes to my style. I would say I am a devoted lover of fashion and try to keep my wardrobe up to date. And, let’s just say I adore my uniform of head-to-toe black haha.”

Essence lipsticks are amazing and super reasonably priced too.
Must-have clothing item for Spring 2016?
Body suits in all styles and colours! Any denims with embroidered patches on them!
One item that goes everywhere with you?
My iPhone for defs.

Yes, and yes! I have three 🙂

Kylie Jenner’s style gets me every time! But please look up Nyane Lebajoa on Instagram, she kills in everything she wears 🙂
Favourite food?
Chicken is like my staple, I could eat it every day and live a happy life haha, but pizza is my thang!
